Sinh viên Toán và Tài chính định lượng

Tháng 9-2009, Khoa Toán nhận được một thông tin tuyển dụng về tài chính từ tổ hợp Vietnam Fund Management (VFM), là một trong các quỹ đầu tư lớn nhất tại Tp. HCM liên kết giữa Sacombank và Dragon Capital, trong đó yêu cầu sinh viên như sau:

• You must be 100% comfortable with standard mathematics tools like Fourier analysis, PDEs, singular value decomposition, etc.
• You must be 100% comfortable with computer programming in any language (C++, Java, C#, etc). You don’t need to know Matlab, it is easy to learn.
• Minimum Master’s level understanding of Statistics.
• I need someone who knows at least as much statistics as I do, but my own academic training is mainly in stochastic differential equations so it would be very helpful if I can find someone who knows more statistics then I do. Ideally someone who understands “The Elements of Statistical Learning” by Friedman, Hastie, Tibshirani.
• We will work in English. Your English doesn’t need to be perfect but you should be comfortable to work in English.
• You should have a strong interest to learn about the stock market. You should have some minimal knowledge about the stock market – for example if you watch the business report on the TV that is enough.
• This will be a very difficult job. You will work long hours. You should be willing to work very hard and you should be very ambitious.

• This job is ideal for someone who has dreams of working on Wall Street. If you are willing to work very hard then this job is a realistic route to a career in finance, either in Saigon or NY.
